The Valley View Board of Education would like to thank those who supported the Valley View Operating Levy and extend a big thank you for the hard work and dedication of the levy committee and volunteers.
While the results of the levy are disappointing, the majority of the community has spoken. There will obviously be some significant impacts on the operations of the schools and the administration will begin the task of what level of cuts will need to be made.
Some operating efficiencies were already predetermined regardless of the levy outcome including the elimination of teaching positions and some high school classes. As a result of the levy failure reductions could include an additional elimination of four positions, possible expansion of the transportation radius, increasing pay-to-participate fees, increasing K-3 class sizes, and elimination of student clubs.
Now that the impact can be fully assessed, the administration will begin re-working the budget for the 2019-2020 school year.
